Sustainable Voice
A voice should carry a whole life, not only the years it is new.
I was born in 1963 and I still sing professionally. That is neither chance nor luck — it is technique, and technique can be taught. What I work on when I come to a choir is exactly that: how to sing in a way that lasts, year after year, including once the voice has changed. Because it does change. The only question is what you do about it.
Four decades as a working singer, fourteen countries, and a voice that still carries. Voices that stop holding rarely do it suddenly — there is nearly always a warning, and it can nearly always be addressed earlier than people think. That is what I come to talk about. Not to turn the choir into soloists, but so that you can go on singing.
The scope is set by the group — a choir day, an evening, or a recurring session across a term. Write and tell me about your choir, how many of you there are and what you feel you need, and I will propose a format and a price.
