Born in Linköping. Inducted into the Linköping Wall of fame in 2017. Now teaching a new generation of singers on home ground.
I was born and raised in Linköping, received the city’s Cultural Scholarship in 1984 before leaving for the Opera College in Stockholm, and after four decades on European stages I still live in the district. I teach in the studio at Östgötagatan 5, in the middle of the city.
I live in Vreta Kloster, north of the city, where the Göta Canal steps down through the locks at Berg. Ljungsbro is the nearest town; central Linköping lies a little to the south. The studio is in town — but this is where I set out from, and this is the district I belong to. That is unusual in itself: most singers who worked those houses moved away and stayed away.
Lessons are booked one at a time, not as a term course — many students take an in-person lesson every week or two and put an online lesson in between when the calendar tightens. We find a rhythm that holds over time. That is what produces results, not the intensity of any single week.
